Hi, my name is Joan. January this year I was pregnant with my 5 th child but we didnt know. I was at work and I wasn’t feeling well. 15 minutes later I didn’t remember leaving work. Fort Edward Rescue Squad was called. By the time I got to the hospital my heart stopped. Through cpr they got my heart going again. After some quick tests they realized that I had an atopic pregnancy and my tube ruptured. I needed major surgery and 4 units of blood and 1 unit of platelets. I woke up 2 and a half weeks later on a respirator. I have given blood quite a few times and if I’m able to in a year, I will continue to give blood. Thank you to all the people that take the time to give blood, it’s really important.
