My senior year of high school, I found out that there would be “blood takers” coming to the school one evening. I asked for and received permission from my parents, went to the gym and watched what was happening. I quickly got woozy, and fainted–slowly, in a chair! Nobody had even touched me yet. Of course, there being so many medical professionals around, I was quickly taken care of. After awhile, I bucked up, and convinced everyone that I could do it. And I did! I’ve donated blood several times now, and I no longer even feel remotely ill. It’s a great feeling to know that I’m helping someone, somewhere. I know a couple people who have needed blood transfusions, but nobody with my matching blood type. But someone has had my A+ blood in them!
