A vibrant 17-year-old boy, Justin, had a vehicle accident on his way home in the spring of 2008. He was airlifted from the scene and his parents were told that he might not live because his carotid artery had been severed and he had lost most of his blood. I’ve known his mom for most of my life and I witnessed the devastation this had on their family. Justin survived, but had numerous blood transfusions. A blood drive was planned for our church the next fall and because his mother asked me to donate, to help save other kids like Justin, I made my first donation.
