I started donating blood while living in Austin, and despite moving back to northeast Texas, I still donate to this day. To date, I’ve given just over 10 gallons. It’s not always easy inasmuch as sometimes my iron is not at the required level to donate and that my veins are deep, and they tend to roll when I get stuck. But still, I always give it a go. I may not have it in my budget to donate monetarily to causes and foundations, but I can at least give of my time. Alongside of having always donated blood, I’ve served two stints in Americorps volunteering in my community.
