She should have been saved by the transfusion. Instead she died because of it. Something noone even thought of happening. A rare transfusion reaction which made it impossible for her to breath on her own again. It affects the lung, and it’s supposed to be checked and documented from the time of donor giving until it’s given to a patient. What happened? Can someone please tell us what happened here? A 17 year old child lost her only parent and provider because of this, Shari lost her life because of this. Not because of the minor bleeding she had experienced over several months. If they could have found the bleeder before the transfusion, she could have come back home to us. Back to the people who loved and cherished her. Now, none of us have the love she gave freely. My only consolation is to know so many lives are really saved by the blood and plasma donations we give. We give life. Please don’t let this happen to anyone else.
